REMEMBRANCE PHOTOS IN RHYL – NORTH WALES

NORTH WALES AND CHESTER PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER

BLOGPOST: MONDAY 13TH NOVEMBER 2017, RHYL WAR MEMORIAL, RACHEL SIAN PHOTOGRAPHY

It was such an honour to be asked by Richard Kendrick to take some photos of the parade on Remembrance Sunday in Rhyl yesterday. The parade began at St. Thomas’s church and the roads were closed whilst hundreds of people paraded up to the War Memorial on the promenade to show their respect for those who have sacrificed themselves to protect us. It was lovely to see such a great turnout and so much support for this very important occasion despite the wind and rain. At 11am, people all across the UK showed their respect with two minutes silence.

I hope you enjoy looking at the photos below, but I would firstly like to mention how proud we all are of Richard Kendrick for organising the Poppy Appeal in the area and also encouraging our younger generations to get involved. Richard is a 44 year old self employed shop keeper in Rhyl (Mace News) who, in his spare time helps local charities or people who need help. In July 2016 he offered to help the Royal British Legion and became Rhyl’s PAO (Poppy Appeal Organiser) raising £27,303 in his first year and with the continued help and support of local people, he hopes to smash this record in 2017 by reaching £30k!

“I took on the role of PAO as two lads I knew gave their lives for us, Lance Corporal Michael Taylor who left behind partner Sonia and their three boys Ethan, Wesley and Charlton whilst serving in Afghanistan in 2010.  Also in 2006, Lance Corporal Paul Farrelly, whilst serving out in Iraq, leaving behind wife Natalie Farrelly and their three children Reece, Morgan and Brooke. I aim to get children involved more so they learn and understand what the appeal is about and who it helps”.
